Merilee Karr

Founder & CEO | UnderTheDoormat

Merilee founded UnderTheDoormat in July 2014 after a decade-long successful career at oil and gas giant Shell. The inspiration for establishing the company came from her own travelling experiences in 70 different countries.

As the elected Chair for the newly formed industry body, STAA, she is passionate about helping professionalize and grow the industry in the most responsible way.

Note: The UK Short Term Accommodation Association (STAA) was founded in March 2017 with a clear purpose in mind: ensuring greater cooperation to tackle common industry challenges and seizing shared opportunities in this growing sector. To this end, we are seeking to work with all stakeholders towards a stable and supportive regulatory environment that promotes the UK as a global leader in the provision of short-term accommodation.

James Kirimy

James Kirimy is General Manager for UK and Ireland at Spotahome. Prior to joining Spotahome, he worked at Uber for three and a half years, where his last role was as head of Electric Vehicles and Infrastructure. In this role, James developed and implemented the strategy for the transition of the ridesharing business to electric vehicles in the UK, garnering a £200M investment to financially support drivers through the transition, led research projects and transactions with OEM and charging operators leading to partnerships with companies such as Nissan, ChargePoint and other key European EV charging operators.

Prior to Uber, James founded ShowMango, offering unlimited subscription services for concerts and live events. He went on to mentor other entrepreneurs through Seedcamp, something he maintains to this day. Before founding his company, he worked as an M&A Financing Analyst at Société Générale.  He holds an Masters in Management & Business from Brandeis International Business School (Massachusetts, USA), an MSc in Financial Engineering from Université Paris Dauphine (France) and completed a Certificate in Finance at Harvard University

Shelley D’Arcy

Shelley is Vice President of Property Recruitment at, the UK’s leading provider of holiday properties and luxury homes. 

Shelley previously worked for Sykes Cottages before moving to and now leads a team of over 65 local letting specialists to deliver effective, practical advice and commercial support to holiday homeowners across the UK.  As a result, has seen record numbers of homeowners joining them through 2019 and looks forward to helping even more in 2020.
